WHAT IS VAT?
The Victim Assistance Team (VAT) is a team of trained volunteer advocates who provide confidential community-based victim advocacy to the CSU community. Click here to learn more about advocacy.
WHAT DOES THE VICTIM ASSISTANCE TEAM DO?
- Advocates must first take a 40-hour training through SAFE Center. This satisfies state requirements for confidential victim advocacy.
- After completion of VAT training, volunteers support SAFE Center by answering hotline calls after business hours, on weekends, and during university holidays.
- Local volunteers may also support survivors during in-person accompaniments.
- Volunteers can be students, staff, faculty members, alumni, and community members who are local to the Fort Collins area.
